Road Closure - Arthur Ashe Blvd

The following information has been provided by DPW regarding this closure/detour, for Northbound Blvd at Carmax Park, which may be in place for a month. However, no timeline was confirmed.

"As you mention in your email, we also noted that the detour route would be improved if the left turn arrow timing (Leigh St eastbound to Hermitage northbound) was extended. Initially, additional time was added to the left turn arrow for only the AM peak travel period. Beginning today (Monday September 29, 2025) the extended left turn arrow timing will be effective from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM on weekdays.

Also, additional messaging/signage was added at the intersection of W Broad St and N Arthur Ashe Blvd, giving motorists the opportunity to choose an alternate route, avoiding N Arthur Ashe Blvd entirely.

Finally, experience has shown that as motorists become aware of and familiar with the establishment of a work zone detour, the traffic flow will improve, both from motorists avoiding the area and/or anticipating necessary vehicle movements to navigate the detour.

We will continue to monitor the detour route and traffic conditions for possible additional adjustments to the maintenance of traffic (MOT) plan."
